Online Ground School

Online Ground School

Online aviation ground school offers numerous benefits for aspiring pilots. It provides flexible learning options, allowing students to study at their own pace and on their own schedule. In these programs, you'll learn essential topics such as aerodynamics, navigation, meteorology, and regulations, all crucial for a successful flying career. Additionally, the interactive online format includes multimedia resources and quizzes, enhancing your understanding and retention of the material. What you learn in the ground school course will get you ready for the FAA written exam.

I have experience with two of these online ground schools; Sporty's and MzeroA. Both of these are very capable of setting you up for success. I personally used Sporty's more because the platform is just very good. If you're considering doing accelerated training, both of these platforms offer monthly/annual subscriptions that give you access to all of their courses. You can save quite a bit of money by doing this rather than paying a couple hundred dollars for every rating. MzeroA is also very well known as a ground school and Jason Schappert's videos on YouTube are among the best you'll find on aviation subjects. Depending on the subscription you purchase with them, they offer access to weekly live coaching seminars and a passed checkride guarantee.

For Written Test Prep, there is no better resource than Sheppard Air. It is the most complete study material on the market to ace your written exams. The only downside is that it's not available for private pilot, but for every other written (instrument, commercial, flight instructor, flight instructor - instrument, advanced ground instructor, instrument ground instructor), you'll get identical questions that will show up on the written and their study methodology is well tested. I scored higher on every written exam (lowest score was a 92) than my Sheppard Air practice exam score. Plus, it's very affordable!

Aviation Groups

Joining aviation groups and building a strong network is crucial for students pursuing a career in aviation. Aviation is a community-driven field, and connecting with like-minded individuals, mentors, and professionals can significantly enhance your learning experience. By joining aviation groups, such as AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association), EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association), or NAFI (National Association of Flight Instructors), students gain access to valuable resources, mentorship opportunities, and industry insights that can help them navigate their training and career path more effectively.

Networking also opens doors to future job opportunities, internships, and scholarships. As students engage with experienced pilots, instructors, and industry leaders, they gain knowledge beyond the classroom or cockpit, such as tips on passing checkrides, insight into the best flight schools, or advice on career advancement. The aviation community is known for its supportive nature, where shared experiences and connections can lead to lifelong relationships and opportunities. Actively participating in these networks not only builds confidence but helps students stay informed on the latest trends, regulations, and technological advancements in aviation, fostering continuous learning and growth.

These are some of the aviation groups I am apart of and that helped me get to where I am today!
